FYI: I hardly ever have any clients with third party sick pay. I did today. After spending time going in circles trying to figure why it is still being carried to New Jersey Wages, and how to eliminate it from wages, I called tech support. I spent valuable time speaking with several representatives regarding Third Party Sick Pay and that when I check off the box on the W-2 down in Part VII, L(l), it still carries to reportable wages in NJ. One person wanted me to sanitize the return and send it in. I said no thank you. Finally speaking with the third rep, I had a thought, put a zero in Box 16, state wages. Bingo! The amount did not carryover to NJ. Such a simple thing to do, sad the tech's didn't know it!! It's just a matter of knowing to put the zero's in. Happy Tax Season!!!
