SOCIAL SECURITY WORKSHEET

GG406
Level 2

Preparing a return for client and Proconnet is not calculating the social security taxable correctly. Off by 30K plus. Worksheet does not even appear with the return. Who do I talk top to get fixed?

I haven't seen that problem pop up yet.  Is non-taxable interest involved on the return or is filing separately involved?

Neither. MFJ, 2 pensions, 2 social security and 1 regular saving interest. Very simple return.

Total amount of SS is correct on line 6a. Line 5b is the correct amount of pensions.

If you are comfortable that all of your numbers are correct and the computation is wrong, you should contact support for the issue.

What is the total SS income and the total pension income?  And what amount does the program say is taxable?  Maybe you have a glitch just in your system and others can tell you if theirs is working.

I also prepared my taxes on 01/31 and 0 taxable amount showed up for Social Security Benefits in box 6B I didn't notice until I filed and the IRS notified me of the error attempting to get Intuit to respond with a FIX is near impossible they don't have a clue. Totally Frustrated with these AI bonehead responses and so called tax experts not knowing what to do in order to fix this problem so that I can prepare an Amended return!!!!!!

Which program are you using?  Perhaps TurboTax?  If IRS caught the error, no need to file an amended 1040.  Might be a problem with state returns.
