    Unemployment while working?

    JML222
    Level 5

The client presented with a W2 and a 1099G for unemployment. I questioned the client since the amounts on both forms were the same. He responded, "I was just following orders from the company". Upon further questioning, l believe he was working while receiving unemployment compensation. He also added this didn't "feel right".  Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Nothing about the forms tells you it was concurrent.

You would need to look at the "assertion" for applying for UI.

In other words, the employer might be right; the State might have a provision to do "make up amounts" when hours were cut.

    Hope that helps.
