Non refundable, non transferable June 2021 cruise cost $28,000. Any suggestions on what charities and how taxpayer could get some charitable deduction (not willing to go now due to covid).
Maybe like donating a car to an auction?

There are many struggling churches with struggling pastors who have not had a vacation with their struggling spouse for 20 years. Donate it to the church and let the church governing board decide who deserves it. Would it then be considered compensation? Would it qualify for parsonage allowance?
For a secular solution, donate it to an organization that will raffle it off. One large enough to sell 300 tickets for $100, or 3,000 for $10. Of course the winner has to pay tax on it.
" non transferable "
Soooo - how does donate something that's not transferable?
What about this "non transferable"?
Ah, fine minds thinking alike.
Thank you for pointing that out. Did not phrase correctly. Should have said "Cruise line will not postpone or transfer to a future cruise."
The way things are going, it probably won't be sailing in June 2021.
"Any suggestions on what charities"
Well, I have a membership in Guidestar and use their resources to do my research. You also can use something specific, such as Donorschoose. But, giving a vehicle can be to the organization or For the organization. Example: you give a van, and the church or school or pet rescue uses the van. Or, they sell it and the proceeds are theirs to use. Or, they raffle off something and get proceeds this way. Because of covid, these types of things are handled differently, so your first need would be to find someone wanting to accept it.

The cruise is booked for the SS Minnow ----------------- they never cancel ------------- but it could be a short cruise.
