Client who has a 17 year old who will be 18 in 2023 has had a transplant and many extensive medical bills and will need to be filing for disability once he is 18. Should the dependent file by himself in 2022 since he needs to be "on his own". Looking for any answers or assistance. Thank you.

I don't think a 17 year old need to be "on his own". Having his parents claim him as a dependent isn't gong to cause any subsequent issues.
