The client letter templates for 1065, 1120 and 1120S returns do not include an insertable code for the Preparer's email address. Codes exist in the library for 1040 (e.g., FDIEPmail), 1041 706 and 709. Will ProSeries add these?

The client letter templates for 1040, 1041, 706 and 709 returns include a unique insertable code for the preparer's email address. In the 1040 it is [FDIEPmail]. In the 1041 the code is [FIFPEMAIL]. There are similar codes within the 706 and 709 returns. The codes DO NOT EXIST in the library of client letter codes for the 1065, 1120 or 1120S products. Will ProSeries add them so the letters are consistent?

Thanks for the idea to include an insertable code for the Preparer's email address. We are changing the status to "Open for voting" since it has been around for over 30 days and no longer considered "New".

This would be very helpful!

👎 Pro Series is tax software. It is not software for typing letters. There are a lot more important tax software issues that Pro Series can address, especially state tax software issues, rather than devoting time and resources to this.

What's wrong with these Firm emails instead? Will these work for you?

<@FDIEmail>

<@FIFFEMAIL>

<@PTPFEmail>

 <@CPCFEmail>

 <@SPSFEmail>

They are in the default letter heading for your firm. No "P" for Preparer needed.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions and comments. The codes listed for the firm email address could work. We have several preparers; we like to direct a client to that preparer's email address, as one can in 1040, 1041, 706 and 709 products. It would seem like an easy cut & paste fix for ProSeries, where the coding is available in 1040, 1041 and others.

To the comment re: ProSeries being a TAX software company, and getting the coding correct for calculations, that is, of course, the priority. The original post didn't suggest anything different, nor was a priority ranking requested. It's about being consistent across their product line and having a professional appearing product. The client letter is often the first page our clients see.

FYI, PS has city returns(like Philadelphia) that are only accessible from the 1040 & PA40 program; however, Philly BIRT and NPT are also needed for 1065s, 1120s, and 1120Ss. THEY CANNOT BE ACCESSED FROM THOSE RETURNS.

The workaround is to create a dummy 1040 and PA40. I have several 1040s whose name is ABCD, Corp., also known as Mr. Corp. Mr. Corp. is Single, no dependents. There's some finagling around to get the Philly returns to e-file without e-filing the 1040 and PA40, but it's doable.

This has been the case for at least 30 years. If the software has the programming accessible to the 1040 & PA40, why not the others?

In addition, the Philly letters were written in the 1980s, when formatting for underlining was in DOS. The letters still use ======================= for double-underlining. I formatted my own letters since the letters PS are still junk. I started using PS in 1995 or 1996.
