On Minnesota (and other non-confirming states) it would be nice if on the Federal Bonus Depreciation Addition Smart Worksheet automatically filled in the amounds in Step 1 and Step 2 of the worsheet that calculates Line 3 of the M1M. If it didn't fill in these amounts automatically, if the software can see that a Schedule KPI or KS has an amount on Line 5, why cannot it not prompt that an amount needs to be entered on these lines. Currently we have to manually enter on the worksheet.
Why it carries over the Section 179 items from Line 4 of the KPI or KS for the Line 4 calculation on the M1M but not the Line 5 KS or KPI to Line 3 of the M1M calculation does not make sense.
For example, MN only allows 25K in Section 179. If take a $30,000 Section 179 it takes and adds back the $4,000 (80% of the amount over $25,000 automatically). However, for Bonus Depreciation, if I took the $30,000 as Bonus Depreciation instead, it would allow only the 20% to be taken in year 1 and not add back the 80% to be carried forward for future deduction.
