Electronic Filing Feature of Amended Returns - Homebase Information

Jerry Puskarich

This suggestion relates to the new feature that was put into place to allow the electronic filing of amended returns starting with the 2019 tax year.  I did my first one today and the process worked fine.  My suggestion relates to how the return is marked on the Homepage on the 1040 tab.  Because of how the new process works you no longer copy a file to make an amended return, you just back it up and place it a desired directory.  As a result when you complete the amended return, check for errors, complete the validation and accuracy, close the file it still shows EF Accepted in the Client Status.  This can cause confusion to the user despite the fact that the file is Marked for EF in the EF Status column on the EF Clients Tab.

I am suggesting that the Homebase be changed to show a separate column for Amended Returns on both screens so the user knows the status of the return on either the 1040 Homebase screen or the EF Clients Homebase.  This should also be reflected on the Pay by Refund Homebase as well.  The change may or may not be possible but it would be very beneficial to have this feature.  In addition it would be nice to be able to do Direct Deposit of an Amended Return.  Questions can be directed to Jerry Puskarich at [phone# removed].  Thanks in advance for your consideration in this matter.

THIS IS A NO-BRAINER! E-FILE AMENDED RETURNS AND DIRECT DEPOSITS FOR FEDERAL AND THE VARIOUS STATES. PAPER CHECKS SHOULD BE A BACK-UP, BUT NOT THE PRIMARY PAYMENT METHOD. SOME PEOPLE MOVE OFTEN, ETC. WHY HAVE THEM CHASE THEIR MONEY!
