The (new) 2020 Sched D input worksheet now requires the preparer to enter an adjustment when the cost basis shown on the Form 1099-B is not correct. In the 2019 software, you simply had to enter the corrected cost basis. But now, the 2020 software requires the preparer to literally calculate the adjustment needed (read: a waste of my time) and then enter the adjustment amount on the Sched D worksheet. Another case of Intuit's "change happy" culture. Because of this unnecessary change, it now also opens up the possibility of me making a calculation error. If I can just enter the corrected basis amount, it removes the risk of making a calculation erro.
Typical Intuit policy. Something works just fine....so let's change it and make it more difficult!
