    He received a check for $17,008.00  but no 1099. Where should it be entered?

    Workers Compensation is not taxable.

    Well, actually, there's that place for adding nontaxable income when computing the allowable "Tables" amount for sales tax.  If the taxpayer is itemizing.  And doesn't claim state income tax instead.  And doesn't already have $10K of SALT deductions.
