Where in the software is the "refund calculator" option whereby the system recalculates the refund after each data entry?

Not sure, but you might be referring to the Tools > Auto Calculation ON/OFF toggle command.

I noticed that option a few weeks ago, never saw it before (and I cant seem to find it again  LOL)  but is that new this year? or has it always been around but I never noticed it?

Being able to toggle the auto-recalculation on & off after each entry was added in the 2018 version. I didn't know about it either, but someone on this board wrote about it a year or so ago.

ok, I just noticed it this year, I'll have to peek at 2018 and see how I had it set.
