I have a client who is trying to claim the tax credit for his solar panel installation last year, and his EV charger installation the same year. However, when he enters both (in any order), because the solar credit is enough to drive his tax liability to zero, the EV charger credit is ignored (set to $0). But he is still getting a carry-over credit for the solar panels next year. Given that fact, why isn't the EV charger credit included, which would result in a larger carry-over next year for the solar panels? I don't believe the credits are supposed to be mutually exclusive.
If this is a limitation of TurboTax, and how it prioritizes the credits, can the forms simply be overridden so that my client can take advantage of both credits?
why is YOUR client using TurboTax? Have them call TT if they need help, this isnt your problem.

Thanks.
Thanks. You are correct. However, I did just click on a link that Intuit provided when I tried asking a question.
You can imagine how confusing it is when you used "client" and TurboTax, which is not a commercial preparer product. Posting in a peer user forum for different software won't really get you much help, though.
Intuit owns a lot of stuff.
