    So if I have clients who exceed the 150K limit for unemployment should I file them separate. UGH

    You should check if filing as Married Filing Separately would give a better result.  Even if filing MFS allows the Unemployment Exclusion, that doesn't necessarily mean the overall result will be better.

    I had figured that but now more calculations to figure out which is better. You would have thought mfs would have had different limitation.

    Are you in a community-property state?  That makes it even more fun.
