New client e-filed with wrong ss number, how do I fix it?

Should not that return have been rejected by the IRS since the social security number did not match the name?
@Just-Lisa-Now- @ I don't know , he said twice it was e-filed...
@Just-Lisa-Now- could be and if that is the case that would mean the return was never ever filed , I.E. it was rejected...

Could it have been rejected and my computer did not catch it? I've had no other problems with the other returns sent in that batch (so far). But I have have had other glitches.
Has anyone else had program problems?

Was the SSN wrong because of incorrect or transposed digits? Or because it belongs to another family member? My understanding is that IRS only verifies with the first four letters of the last name.
