Greetings,- Can someone explain how can i input the State information for NY and NJ.  I have a NJ resident w-2 and a NY non resident w-2 (same company) with "total State" on box 15 and an amount on box 17.  The other portion of W2 has box 15,16,17 with an amount.  How can i input this information on intuit proseries.  I'm very confused.  Please help!.

Its a bit complex. Maybe someone from NY can chime in. But if NJ resident and NY w-2, you'll need to file NY as non-resident and fill out days worked in NY. The taxes he pays in NY will credit on NJ. NJ will error out as it will state withholdings dont match. You must manually change a few numbers.
