Taxpayer died in 2020. Surviving spouse did not apply for EIN number. Deceased received 1099-R for 2021. How do I report the income received in 2021 with deceased taxpayer's social security number on `1099-R?

Several 1099-R and `1099-Div were received for 2021 tax year for deceased taxpayer.  His wife did not apply for an EIN number and all the tax documents have deceased social security number.  He died late in 2020.  What forms do I use to report deceased' income?  1040?  1041?  If 1041, can I use his social security number?  Help.

I think, since this was income received after the taxpayer's year of death that it will likely need to be reported on the 1041.  I also believe that an EIN is required for that form and not a SSN.

Thanks for info.  I was thinking that might be the case.
