Some things have changed and some haven't

Recently watched an old rerun of Sanford and Son. It was the episode where Fred waited until April 15th to get his tax returns finished. His accountant made a house visit to do some of the work. He charged Fred $20. Fred owed $100 to the IRS and he complained about it.

Fred complained about the $20 also. The accountant said he would accept $10 up front and $10 on account. Fred made a fist sign and said how about I'll give you five.

In fairness to Fred, that was 50 years ago so prices have changed a little, although his "five" hasn't been affected by inflation.

"I'll give you five" and "You big dummy" two of his best.

CBS had All in the Family and NBC had Sanford and Son.  The good old days of TV.

Actually if you want to move up a few more years you can add my favorite - Newhart.  Some days during tax season you have to feel a little like Dick - the only sane person surrounded by a bunch of nut cases.  It did have one of the best finales of any series.
