ProSeries Champions Program

dascpa
Level 11

Now received multiple emails inviting me to the Champions Program.  Terms of Agreement is 16 pages (signature required) and I see the following.

Anybody know of this and is there really any benefit?

5. Program Benefits:

Sections 12 and 13 are deal breakers to me.  Especially 13.

If you post something or say something that causes someone else to file a legal claim against you or Intuit, you agree that you are legally responsible and Intuit will have no liability to you or to the third-party making a claim.

Let's say I post "ProSeries has an error" and then somebody files a lawsuit against Intuit for that error because they see my post.  The way I read it, section 13 says that Intuit will hold me responsible for it.

Well, Lisa has been wearing that fancy Intuit hat for awhile now so I guess the benefits are huge.  It's funny that she hasn't taken a picture of herself standing next to that Intuit Corvette that she received.

I was just going to ask the same question? What are the benefits of agreeing to this 16 page contract? I'm getting the emails as well and I'm not sure if there is any reason to agree to be a "champion"? Pro vs Con?

Technically I don't know that I qualify:

CHAMPIONS CODE OF CONDUCT.  As a Champion, you agree to:

Conduct yourself, and promote Intuit Services, in a manner which reflects favorably at all times o the products, services, goodwill and reputation of Intuit.

I like the ability to criticize when necessary and I really don't want to run around with a muzzle and a leash on ----------------- it's too embarrassing for a coyote ------------ I'll look like a run of the mill domesticated dog☹️

Didn't we have the same discussion last year?  If there's no alcohol or edibles involved, I'll pass.

We did. A number of us who were AllStars decided not be Champs.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

But they have improved -------- they did get rid of the non disclosure agreement they used to have ----------- or did I just miss it --------- it's not like I spent hours analyzing the thing 😉

I got same email and i havent even been on this forum much. I may consider accepting, if my GSD gets some free gifts, like a glow in the dark collar and leash, plus a years supply of treats.

"they did get rid of the non disclosure agreement they used to have ----------- or did I just miss it"

It's undisclosed.

I once again declined the offer. I already have Intuit swag, anyway. Although the pen stopped writing.

It comes with a great Yeti glass and a nice Pullover with "Champions" embroidered on it. Also, you get access to the lounge, which is a pretty neat forum.  But I still hang out here to get my daily FIX of Ironman, sjrcpa, Just-Lisa, and all of you other brilliant minds of HIGH levels, to get fast and sometimes accurate answers!!   🤣 🤣

But I try not to give tax advice, one, because of the potential liability, and two, because I hardly ever know any answer.

Seriously, I would hate to try to manipulate through a tax season now, without all the brainpower that rests in this forum.

But, the Yeti mug is the bomb...............

But we had the lounge with the AllStar program.    My problem is, since this isn’t the modern day version of the Manhattan Project, why do we need secret closets to hide in?  If there are things going on with the software, why shouldn’t everyone that is paying for the software have a right to know?

The original AllStar program consisted of a simple e-mail asking if you would like a fancy title.  If you said yes, that was it, you were in.  No threats of being sued, no nondisclosure agreements to sign, no pacts with the devil to sell your soul for the privilege of having a title and a lounge that you can trade secrets with the CIA.  But we were amply rewarded for our services under the AllStar program.  Over the years I did earn an Intuit t-shirt, an Intuit hoody, an Intuit flash drive - do you see a pattern here - just marketing bs to make you want to come back and donate all of your free time to Intuit.  I will confess one year some of us got a couple of bucks knocked off our next year’s software cost.  But that was all top secret too - you couldn’t discuss it with any other AllStars out of fear you would get shipped off to San Quentin because nobody was allowed to know who got a discount or how much the discount was.

So the moral of the story is, I prefer just being plain old IRonMaN.  Not level 15 IRonMaN, not AllStar IRonMaN, and certainly not Champion IRonMaN.  I enjoy coming here to shoot the breeze with some of the friends I have made over the years in this place and it feels good to once in awhile help out a lost soul that stumbles in here.

You aren't plain old IRonMan.  From what I've heard, you graduated 1st in your class at the ACME Anvil Academy.

On a completely unrelated note, does it take everybody a million years for the things to load when answering?  Or is it just me (or my browser)?  It's been doing it for the last few weeks for me, and it seems to be getting longer and longer.  It is probably close to a minute until it will let me start typing and not freeze up.  I think it started around the time the "edit" feature first disappeared.

It’s just you - and me.  I can go out and snowblow the driveway while I wait for it to load.

The Reply box takes forever to fully load. The "Additional options" is the one option, of getting an email when the topic is updated. Your Reply was being posted under the specific Reply you were Replying to. There was no edit function, then there was an edit function that took forever to load. Then, one of my replies was reorganized so that the whole topic became date-wise, like in the olden days.

I am so confused.

Got same letter last week (for LC). I perused the agreement. Decided not to join as it appears that they are trying to get users to do their PR.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown of issues you have seen. I am looking into when these changes were deployed and trying to get them reverted. I'll keep you posted.

In other words, in so many words, "nothing of value."

No thanks.

My feeling are hurt... they didn't even bother to ASK me this time.

Or, maybe they knew in advance what my answer would be 🙂

We certainly did.  For almost exactly the same reasons.
