This worksheet does not comply with Illinois Instructions, NOR does the worksheet figure the correct amount of the late payment penalty due to the software NOT following the Instructions as outlined for Line 23 on page 3 of 5 on the Illinois Instructions pdf.
(Please NOTE: Late Payment Smart Worksheet is Unchecked as payment will be made after original due date)
Column B - The instructions state that that column B should have the original due date of the return (Intuit ProSeries does this)
Column C - The instructions state enter any positive amount from Line 19 on the first line of Column C. (Intuit ProSeries does this)
Column D - Paragraph 2 states in part, if there are no payments to be carried forward from Step 4, Line 20 and Column C remains unpaid, enter "0" in column D, and complete Columns E through I (Intuit ProSeries DOES NOT DO THIS)
Column E - Subtract the payment in Column D from the unpaid amount in Column C. If the result is positive (Unpaid) enter the unpaid amount on the next line in Column C, and continue completing Columns D through I. Continue doing this until Column E is an overpayment, zero. If column E is negative or zero you have paid your tax.
Column F - Enter the date the payment in Column D was made (Intuit ProSeries DOES NOT DO THIS, it should be populated by the payment date on the Information Worksheet)
Column G - Figure the number of days from the date in Column B to the date in Column F (Intuit ProSeries DOES NOT DO THIS)
Column H - Enter the correct penalty rate that applies based upon the number of days late (Intuit ProSeries picks the correct penalty rate only if Column F and Column G are overridden with a payment date and No of days late)
Column I - Penalty is calculated correctly if Columns F and G are overridden with correct values.
This programming error has been ticketed twice to Level 2 and 3 support and both times the ticket was dismissed because the support personnel have failed to read the Illinois Instructions and understand that the balance due needs to flow to the next line in the table for line 23, and that Column D Payment should be applied from payment amount and date shown on the information worksheet for the State of Illinois to determine the number of days late, the penalty rate, and the penalty.
Can you just allow Illinois to send notice of balance due for penalty and interest ?
