I filed a 2018 tax return that shows e-file accepted on 5/21/2020 but IRS says that this return was rejected. The e-file status does not show a rejection. What can I do?

what does your form 9325 say?

Highlight the file in the EFCenter, then choose Update Acknowledgements of Selected Returns and see if it returns back a different message.

And did YOU speak with IRS or are you getting second hand info from your client when they called?
