EIC (SSN & ITIN Both on the Same Tax Return)

EIC (Earned Income Credit) for MFJ with TP, SP (both with SSN) and One Child with SSN but the Second child with ITIN

March 15, 2021

EIC (SSN & ITIN Both on the Same Tax Return)

Probably it may be a question for Pro Series and not for Tax Talk.

The Taxpayer and Spouse both have valid SSN, One child born in the USA has a SSN but the elder child has ITIN.

Except for SSN required for SSN for all the people on the 2020 Tax Return, the TP qualifies for EIC by fulfilling other EIC requirements.

The IRS Website states as follows:

To qualify for the EITC, everyone you claim on your taxes must have a valid Social Security number (SSN).

Pro Series Prof calculates EIC for one child with SSN.  Does the second child with ITIN not create a disqualification for EIC?

Any thoughts / clarifications / updates would be highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards.

There is no need to post the same question repeatedly.  I answered your question a couple of days ago:

Yes waiting for the answer to the following related question clarification.  Since EIC is very sensitive to the IRS, reassurance is not out of place.

Does one child with ITIN disqualify the entire EIC of TP SP and another Child all with SSN to these people ?

Do everyone on the TRs MUST have SSN and if one of them has ITIN, EIC is allowed or denied?

As my original answer said, ProSeries is doing it correctly.
