Efiling schedule

WHY??? Why does the ability to efile a return close before the deadline to request a refund? I have a couple people filing 2022 returns and are due a refund, but we must do it by paper. This is frustrating. 

Mostly a venting thread! I don't really expect anyone to know why this is.

The MeF system is only set up to EF current year and 2 years prior, anyone waiting close to 3 years to file, has to file by paper, that's just how it is.

Ive got a 2022 return with a refund Ive been sitting on for 2 years now, husband died, wifes been sick, and I think shes got some kind of dementia, fingers crossed she gets in here Saturday like she says (shes been saying she'll be in for months and months, but I dont trust her to sign and mail them if I just ship them off to her!) then I'll get them maile dout priority to make sure we've got a postmark and tracking so they cant say they were late! 

Theyve been clients for decades, I think I might just have to drive it out to her house this weekend, shes got more than enough troubles besides losing a large refund.

YES. I regularly pickup and deliver to elderly, disabled, or infirmed, (or those I feel shouldn’t be driving).
