IF YOUR SPOUSE WAS DECEASED IN 2019 YOU PUT THE DATE OF DEATH ON YOUR FEDERAL WORKSHEET, AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO FILE A SEPARATE RETURN.
I haven't had to in a while, and I believe that PA now allows it. Since PA taxes each spouse's income separately anyway, it shouldn't matter.
BUT..., if you had to get the second spouses's income listed by herself for PA only, you would split the return, saving only the second spouse's return, and then go to PA and ignore the federal.
