Amending a return for the Unemployment Insurance exemption

With the exemption of a portion of the Unemployment Insurance can we prepare an amended return and electronically file it? If yes will it include the forms required for the change like Schedule 1? When can we file the amended return? Thanks.

IRS says DON'T amend for UI.  They think they can fix it on their end and issue any refunds due.
