Hi everyone, if your client has Form 8936, Intuit cannot transfer the tax return to the IRS due to a system issue on their end, just keep it on hold !!!!
Does anyone have an issue like this? Let me know, please.
the form shows that it should be final and ready....are you getting a rejection hen you try and EFile?
If so, can you share that rejection message
This is from the IRS and they say it will be fixed on their end today.
However, it is possible that Intuit won't be ready with the matching programming yet.
Electronic returns with Clean Energy claims will be rejected until the programming is implemented on 02/02/2025. The following forms are part of Clean Energy: * Form 8936, Clean Vehicle Credits |
Refrain from filing returns that contain Clean Energy claims until after 02/02/2025. |
: Update Efile Status (freezed)
Hi Lisa, thanks! I read your first comment again, and I really appreciate it.
There is no rejection file; it remains the same, but ProSeries says it is ready. It's so weird and not good for ProSeries or for us to see this issue and carelessness at the beginning of the tax season. My client has a big refund and is mad at me.
Update: E-file Status (frozen)."
You are very helpful and always ready to assist us. Again, 1000 thanks!
Two minutes ago, I clicked on 'Update E-file Status,' but nothing went through to the IRS.
It seems Intuit and ProSeries are still having issues.
Let me know where did you find this message.
Still Intuit Proseries has problem to E-file 8936!
"My client has a big refund and is mad at me."
Mad at you over something out of your control? Id stick them at the bottom of the pile and wait a week before worrying about them again.
Why return got rejected due to error detail:
* Schedule A (Form 8936) credit amount does not match the type of credit reported in e-file database.
* The e-file database indicates this vehicle was not purchased during the tax period of the return.
My client has 15400 (Clean Vehicle Seller Report) and date of sale is 03/29/2024 and has maximum credit allowable to the taxpayer of $4,000.
You guys have any input here??
Is it an IRS problem still, or an Intuit one?

Try plugging the info in here and see what it says, this is where IRS directs people to verify if a vehicle qualifies
Federal Tax Credits for New Plug-in Electric and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles Purchased in 2023 or Af...
This "known issue" at IRS is marked resolved and that file was updated as of 2/6/2025.

Hi, I redo the 8936A and check all info entered were correct then resubmited the return. But after 48 hours, status shows "Sent to IRS".
Thank you for the clarification @elainelunar. Returns are not officially delayed until they exceed the maximum processing time & are considered timely filed based on the time they are timestamped during the e-file transmission process, not when they are accepted. See the article for more How to check for delayed e-file acknowledgements. Keep me updated if you receive an error or rejection number.

Hi, I got return rejected with code: SA-F8936-046.
please go Update then Update installed products.
Error SA-F8936-048 "The efile database indicates this vehicle was not purchased during the tax period of the return."
"Check your VIN" Done
"Check the box "I certify the VIN number is correct..." Done
Return rejected again after doing those things. I'm having client verify the seller submitted the Clean Vehicle Seller Report to the IRS.
The credit flowed thru from the S-corp K-1. The clean vehicle seller report shows the s-corp TIN as the buyer. But neither the 8936 nor the 8936-A show the s-corp TIN as the buyer.
