What deduction amount are you referring to?
Specifically, Schedule A line 12. When e-filed the number was $4k higher
Line 12 is non-cash contributions, "what" exactly changed? Are some of your Charity Donation information entry sheets empty now?
I just spot checked a couple previously filed returns with multiple non-cash donations, they all seem fine, nothing changed with the update yesterday.
Intuit provides a lot of room for typing information, so don't be afraid of using up a little more room on your computer screen to provide some details. The more information provided, typically the better the answers provided here.
Sched A:
Before -efiling Line 12 -$111,024...line 14 -$139,260
AFTER-e-filing Line 12-$83,556.....line 14-$111,792
should have been limited by AGI, it was a stock contribution limited to 30% of AGI
so which is correct? what it was before or what it changed it to?
The number BEFORE was what we calculated and e-filed. The number changed after e-filing.
was it caused by a ProSeries update?
probably. Its not a very common type of donation (Ive never seen it before), its possible it had been doing it wrong and they finally updated it.
Probably a related side effect of the issue related to contributions transferring from K-1 worksheets.
@Anonymous can anyone look into this, is this an unintended side effect of the update yesterday, or is this a necessary update and the program was wrong previously?
@abctax55 The amount that the software calculated and was reviewed and approved was the higher number. The software created an alert AFTER e-filing to say that the numbers had changed.
Why, if calculated wrong, did it not show the NEW (lesser) number prior to e-filing? Was it due to an update of the program?
We just need an explanation of WHY it changed after filing.
It was due to an update. But going back to basics - which number is really the correct one?
