Where do you enter a 1099-R total distribution for a 1041 trust?
Thank you

Other income
@IRonMaN If I put it on line 8 other income it makes the trust owe $8,979.
1099-R
It is for gross $27,990.99
taxable $27,990.99
Total distribution
code 4
IRA/ SEP/ SIMPLE
the trust would owe it unless it was distributed to a beneficiary
$8,000 owing for only $27,990.99?
Something doesn't seem correct. There are 3 beneficiaries their father just passed away. The 1099 is in the EIN of the trust not the kids SS#
Take a look at the tax tables for a 1041
Trusts pay much higher taxes than an individual.
Did the money get distributed to the beneficiaries?
I am sure they got the money 3 ways, but I can ask.
What would I put on the 1041 if it did get distributed to the beneficiaries?
You compute the income distribution deduction on page 2.
Page 2, Line 9 will distribute those monies to the beneficiaries on K-1s for them to claim the income on their own returns....dont expect them to be happy about it though, this late in the filing season, probably means they'll be amending their returns and paying some taxes.
