PS Updater taking hours to update

PS 2024 automatically started updating. It has been over 2 hours and is only 25% done. I've always understood that you don't close out of the update and just let it run.

I've never had the updates take this long until this year. Are others having the same issue? Any tips on how to have updates take minutes like it used to?

Thanks.

The update box, that's icon gets thrown down into the Systray in the corner of the screen, should have an option to Cancel on it, doesnt it?   Worst case would be having to run Repair Updates if it didnt download or install properly, so Im not afraid of canceling an update

Mine had already downloaded, but as I was in the middle of using the program it popped up with a little box in the right hand corner telling me that Updates were ready to Install, but I couldnt get them to install when I clicked on it.

I just ran updates (first time in a long while).... none were found....

If the progress bar has stalled, I'd kick it and start over

If at first you don’t succeed…..find a workaround

It finally finished updating after about 3 hours.

The progress bar never stalled. It was very slow.

That's the second time this year that has happened. It never took that long in the past. I was wondering if PS changed something.

Anyway, I guess in the future I can close the updater box without fear of damaging anything?

I struggled to get my office system to update yesterday.  I restarted the computer then it seemed to work fine.

Thanks, Lisa.

I usually do a restart when weird things happen. However, when I tried to open PS, I wasn't given an option to update. The program automatically started to update.

In this case, is it safe to click on the "x" to close the updater box and then do a computer restart? I recall that we are advised never to close the updater since it could cause major issues with the program.

Thanks.

Dave, it could be your internet service, and not Intuit/Pro Series.

OK, thanks. The internet was working fine for other tasks during that time.
