Several clients were emailed pdf copies of tax returns with the Intuit password. They were able to open the tax returns. However, they were requested to enter a password to unlock printing. They entered the Intuit password and it does not work.
They received a message "without the proper password you do not have permission to print this document.
Anyone else having this issue and is there any easy fix?
I use Link portal so I can't say I have the issue you mentioned. Not sure if you mailed a significant number but maybe you can protect using Adobe (or some other pdf program) and provide that to them instead. Good luck.
PS has a default for tax file passwords, even if you didn't set up one. I don't remember what it is, like SSN, city, and potentially the ZIP code if the primary address contains one.
Without spaces or punctuation of any kind.
That is how I sent my Authorization form to the client. They were able to open the PDF but, when they went to print the form to put a "wet" signature on it, it asked for a password again. The client tried to input the the same password in again and it would not take. I ended up sending it to them via Adobe Pro.
This has not happened with all of my clients but enough to be an issue for me.
