Need to use a 1041 for a trust

I have a new client who is an executor of his  deceased  father's estate. I can't figure how to download a 1041 into my Pro Series Basic software to complete the return.

You need to download/install Professional in order to prepare a 1041.

You can do this from your Online Intuit ProSeries account, log in here:

https://www.intuit.com/sign-in/

Returns prepared in Professional will be charged the Pay Per Return fee, you will be prompted to pay before you can print or Efile.

You will need to download the Professional version and then will use it pay per return.

Print the IRS forms and fill in by hand?

That is an option, but I would not advise it.

The more I know, the more I don't know.
