Is a Form 8867 required if self-prepared?

Understand, this form is not required if self-prepared and no fee was involved.
Just wanting to know why, when running final review, I get "You should fix this error".
There is an EIC, but no Form 8867?  I assume, this will not stop from this return
being E-filed, merely just a warning?

Because its a program used by tax professionals, so an 8867 is expected to be included with EIC.  Whether you can get away with Efiling and the 8867 being unfilled, Im not sure.

Most tax professionals sign their name to any return they prepare, whether paid or not.  I keep myself as the paid preparer on my own return.

If not a Paid Preparer, how is it then, the 8867 is required?

See "Crazy question about form 8867 - Taxiowa.

Per IRS 8867 Instructions, Pg 1:
General Instructions:

Form 8867 covers the EIC, the CTC/ACTC/ODC, the AOTC, and/or
HOH filing status. You should check the boxes corresponding to all
benefits actually claimed on the return that you prepared.

Only paid tax return preparers should complete this form.
