The program doesnt look at the content of the file before its transferred, so you wont find this as an option.
I only transfer clients in as they come in for an appointment/sends me their info for that year.
You have to select the files to transfer either by selecting all or picking the ones you want to transfer. I would run a list of the files I don't want to transfer and just not highlight them to transfer. More work but you get what you want. When I transfer files, I might click transfer all then go in and uncheck files with file names like "original" or "plan"
I transfer all as I have multiple preparers, and I don't have the time during the season to figure out who is coming in that week and just transfer those files and I just don't want the preparers transferring files.
End of season any file still in "transferred" status I delete to keep the home screen clean.
I didn't use the Client Number line on the Status Sheet, so I put FINAL on that line before saving the file.
Then I added the Client Number column to the Home Base for this year. When transferring returns, it is easy to sort the Client Number column to show the ones with only FINAL in the column and adjust accordingly when transferring next year's.
I also used the Client Number line for other things when necessary, like when I purchased a client list and could then sort Home Base to see which ones were still here,
Maybe put this in the suggestion box.....
just like there's a 'do not transfer this w-2 next year' box to next year box for w2's .... maybe a do not transfer button on the client information worksheet?
