First time preparing AL PY for TP who moved into AL. When I prepare the federal PY Allocation sheet for Pensions, IRAS, Dividends, interest, and capital gains, allocated amounts do not carry to AL. The allocation has be done on their worksheets, even to the point of adjusting proceeds and basis to make the gain allocation come out correctly.
Can the above method be correct or am I missing a magic button or has AL always not accepted the federal PYA into the return?
Thanks in advance to respond during this busy time.
This is Intuit customer support correct?
I apologize for the double post but I don't know how to move a question up in the queue.

Sounds reasonable to me. As long as the return looks correct when it is done and you don't get any error messages that say "this is too stupid to work", I think you should be ok. It seems to me I have done similar things a time or two when dealing with a state I am not familiar with and I'm still walking the streets a free man -------- although the ankle bracelet is a little uncomfortable.
By they way, to move the old question up, all you had to do was add a post. "Bump" is a popular post for those types of situations.

As a side note, once a post makes it to the second page, I will never see it since these days I never leave the first page. That's why doing the bump maneuver comes in handy to keep it in the front page headlines.
Does Bump = Reply to my own question? If so, I did try that.
Yes.
If you've done all the date allocations and worksheet allocations in Part XI of Federal Information Worksheet the program should take it from there.
It's probably faulty like the Michigan Credit for Income Tax Paid to Another State . It will not auto populate like it's suppose to.
Thank you, Thank you all for the input . Now I can stop chewing on my old fashioned lead pencil!
You betcha!
Yes thanks, I'm pretty familiar with the part XI section and the PYA worksheet, we have a lot of folks moving in and out of TN, it's the first state that I have had the no transfer issue with!
