Hi Everyone,

I have a client with ten years old child. She only have one W2 from In-home Supportive Service, IHSS, with W2 box 1: $0, box 3,5: $12000 and box 12 with code II $12000. How to use that Medicaid waiver payments to get EITC & CTC for her?

Best regards,

Trung Nguyen

Did you fill in the special area at the bottom of the W2 worksheet for Medicaid Waiver payments?

Again, did you fill in the Medicaid Waiver section at the bottom of the W2 worksheet?   That should make the earnings count for EITC and CTC

I just tested it on a dummy return......works fine for me, double check the Codes you've chosen for the child in the dependent entry area

Click the "Find Form" button (or hit Control-F).

Type "EARN".

Open the "Earned Income Worksheet".

Check the box(es) on the top of that worksheet.

Oh! I found it we must check yes on taxpayer or Spouse on the Earned Income Worksheet "Medicaid Waiver Payments for the Earned Income Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit Smart Worksheet"

Thank you very much Lisa!

You didn't have Earned Income elsewhere on the dummy return?  If not, that is weird because it shouldn't be giving the credits unless you check that box.

May be you input the amount,$12000, in box 1 on w2?

I did at first, then I deleted it, and left only the W2 with Box 1 empty.as the only income on the return to make sure it would flow. Weird I'll have to look at it again when I go back to the office.
