If you enter the nonresident income on the allocation worksheet linked at the bottom of the federal information worksheet, the numbers should flow to Minnesota.

Passes the ERROR test in Proseries...then I receive this error...when I file.

The MN Form Sch M1NR Taxpayer and Spouse ( if filing jointly) residence information requires a State ID as well as the Date of Move for e-file purposes.  Neither moved.
Verify that the Part-Yr./Nonres Information includes a State of residency. State must be a valid 2-character state abbreviation. I Part year resident,Beginning and Ending residency dates from both the Taxpayer and Spouse must be entered.  There is no part-year resident.  Taxpayer is a resident of Minnesota and Spouse is a resident of Virginia.

Sounds like you have something gummed up on the federal information worksheet.  I would double check to make sure everything looks correct as to being a nonresident.  If the numbers flow correctly on MN, if worse comes to worse, you can always paper file.

Is there a resource at Proseries to get some step by step...or real time help with this...my client does not want to mail it in...?

It is pretty basic stuff.  At the bottom of the federal information worksheet, just note the resident state and note the nonresident state (MN).  Then go to the allocation worksheets that are linked in that section of the worksheet and indicate what income was Minnesota generated.  If it was from a W-2, the system should already have that indicated on the nonresident worksheet.
