How do I get the New York non resident return to tax only the New York income and not the Wisconsin income? FL Resident. New York W-2 income totals $3,365.

This is a student, FL resident and dependent on parents return.  Wisconsin State return is only including WI income.  NY State return is including total Federal Income and not just state of NY income.  How do I get NY to only tax NY income?

Be sure youve completed the non resident state allocation tables at the bottom of the federal information worksheet.

And be sure to scroll down to the tax computation on the NY NT return.  Many NR states compute tax on total income, then use a % ratio to figure the tax for the non resident portion.
