I am filling out Form 3115 for a client that started a rental in 2022 but never depreciated the property. Everything is fine except ProSeries is telling me that line 6a HAS to be marked yes. (Pic Below)
The client does not have any returns under examination with the IRS and per the form instructions this box should be marked "No" and it even tells me if I select "No" to go to line 7a.
Does anyone know what might be causing the system to flag this as an error?
Im looking at the form in 2025, on an empty form, both of those boxes show up empty (they are pink, like you need to mark one or the other)....so it had to pick it up from some other entry somewhere.
If you RIGHT click on that X does it give you the option to Cross Reference? sometimes that can lead you back to the place it originates. Oh wait, when I click NO it errors, I see it now, sorry I (I first thought it was marking it by itself and you couldn't change it).
It appears final and ready to go, but something is amiss!
@Kathi_at_Intuit can someone look at this?
Yes, that was my exact situation. Everything is good with it except for that selection when you click “No”. It doesn’t allow you to drill down either to see if another form is triggering the selection to error.
I know the form cannot be e-filed, but that still shouldn’t give an error unless there is an underlying issue somewhere.
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. Everything else looks good.
We have the same problem. I ran the return through error check and it says it must be marked "Yes". Hoping for an update to fix.
@jkfmsi Thank you! This has been reported and we're taking a look at this.
