I currently have two tax clients for which the electronic filings of their returns have been rejected for F8962 errors. In both cases, neither client entered the health insurance marketplace to obtain health insurance. They and their dependents are covered under Medicaid. A Form 1095-A is not warranted and has not been received by either client. The error indicates that the IRS records show that "someone on your return had health insurance through a Healthcare Marketplace". They are adamant that they did not enter the marketplace. I have tried to work around the error by checking off the box indicating that no insurance was purchased through the marketplace and added a narrative indicating that those individuals were covered by Medicaid. That did nothing and one of the returns has now been rejected three times. Does anyone know what to do in ProSeries to allow the returns to bypass the F8962 error and be accepted for electronic filing? Thanks for any help that you can provide - I truly appreciate it.
You need to attach the ACA explanation statement to the return as a PDF, make sure when it asks for "type" of attachment, you choose ACA Explanation or it will keep getting rejected
