Entering a partial payment on the CA information worksheet when there is a CA 3567

Preparing a CA 540 with a balance due.  My client wants to make a partial automatic withdrawal payment of $50 with the filing of the return, which will include a CA Form 3567 - Request for Installment Agreement which shows monthly amounts also of $50.  The 3567 populates just fine, however, I am getting an error message on the CA information worksheet that tells me that I should not have a check in the "Yes" box for electronic funds withdrawal because I cannot elect electronic funds withdrawal of the entire balance due because installment payment of balance due has also been elected.  It also doesn't like if I check either box or even leave them both blank.

Nowhere on the 3567 does it suggest that I have requested the balance due be paid in its entirety.  I have not encountered this before.  I have closed out and updated forms.  Anyone have an idea as to what am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

Just have them make payment at FTB WebPay

OR

skip the installment agreement request along with the return and wait for the first bill then apply for the installment in their online FTB account.

Just Lisa, et al,

Thanks for your response.  When all else fails, read the instructions.  The top of the 3567 says to NOT attach to the 540, but to MAIL it to the FTB.  So, I deleted the 3567 and the info worksheet auto-filled just fine.  Once the return is filed, I will go back in and complete the 3567 and mail it as instructed.  It is a good reminder for me to pay better attention during the rush of the season, and to not just assume that CA forms work the same way the Fed forms do.

Thanks everyone for taking time out to read about my "plight".  I hope you enjoyed the chuckle.  Now back to work! 😁
