Electronic payments/checks

I unfortunately missed marking a trust return for electronic payments.  Ugh!  I assume there is no way to do that through Proseries once the return has been filed...  is that correct?

Also, can a trust still send a check to the IRS?  I thought back in September they said they would no longer accept checks.  Did I get that wrong or did something change?

Thank you.

Once  a return has been efiled you can't change it.

IRS is still accepting checks as of today April 1, 2026.

"IRS is still accepting checks as of today April 1, 2026."

And I'm pretty sure they will be accepting them for the next few days.  😀

Thank you.

Did I dream that announcement about no more paper checks being accepted?

They prefer electronic but they still are willing to accept checks.

The President signed an Executive Order to that effect last fall. IRS is working on implementation.

Step 1 - if you asked for a refund check they are sending a letter saying give us bank info for a direct deposit.
