EF auth form ...when transmitting the return does the signature date on the 8879 have to be date of transmission?

Had an issue the other day with transmitting a return..after hrs of working to solve the issue ( signature pin wasn't on form even though I had marked it as auto generated) called support and they couldn't not identify the problem........started wondering IF when you actually transmit the return does the signature DATE need to match the actual date of transmission?  I know it shouldn't but wanted to confirm.

Thanks!

Signature date doesnt need to be the same as the day its transmitted.

You cant auto generate the date, so I must be misunderstanding what occurred.

I did have one yesterday, I think it was a CA return that I had to check the box for the Practitioner PIN option, which was weird, but I had paper filed their federal; last year, so it may not have carried over correctly.

Just an observation...

The submission date is not supposed to be more than three days after the signature date.  The IRS doesn't want us 'stockpiling'.

I've never heard the explanation of why stockpiling is frowned upon; and I admit to fudging sometimes when the 8949 is snail mailed and there's more than 3 days involved.   CAGMC !

Thanks Lisa my issue on the transmission wasn't the date it was the auto generated pin that wouldn't generate...I was just whining 🙂   but since I'm new to pro series I just wanted to be sure the date wouldn't mess things up
