Hello,
I have a client who is a Doctor that lives in Colorado and works for a Colorado based company. The company places Doctors at various hospitals throughout the country for a temporary period and are paid by the Colorado based company and subsequently, issued a 1099 for the payment they received at year end.
My client was sent to work in a Michigan based hospital for 6 weeks. Do I need to file a state tax return in Michigan? If yes, when I prepare the Colorado State return, would I exclude this amount of income from Colorado?
Thanks in advance!

Most likely he does need to file a Michigan nonresident return. Look at the Michigan instructions and see "Who Must File".
All income goes on CO return. Claim a credit for tax paid to Michigan.
