If he has no income, does it really matter?

Im thinking they want to be able to claim them as a disabled child for EITC.

Being an alcoholic doesnt make you disabled. Theyd need to be determined disabled by a doctor and qualify for disability benefits.

Google says..........

What does the IRS consider totally and permanently disabled?

A person is permanently and totally disabled if both of the following apply: He or she cannot engage in any substantial gainful activity because of a physical or mental condition, and. A doctor determines that the condition has lasted or can be expected to last continuously for at least a year or can lead to death.

I wouldnt, unless you have some kind of documentation that says hes disabled. I had to prove this to IRS for a disabled adult dependent that qualified the TP for EITC.
