amended returns last I heard were sent paper checks

Beginning in processing year 2023, direct deposit can be requested for electronically filed amended returns for tax year 2021 and later. The bank account information should be entered on the electronically filed Form 1040-X (or Corrected Form 1040-SS/PR).

Sounds good on paper but doesn’t work for 2022 works fine for 2023 

any thoughts? I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to phone intuit

I think when that IRS change was made, Intuit said something like "just because IRS allows it doesn't mean we're going to allow it."

There is no solution 

it doesn’t work for 2022 and tech support doesn’t know why 

you will be getting a paper check for amended 2022

They'd be waiting anyway. Processing time for amended returns is something like 12 weeks.
