Deleting a transferred client file?

If I transfer a client file from 2024 to 2025, then delete it, will I be able to do the transfer again at a later date?

Asking because I saw in another post its not a good idea to transfer at least until final releases in mid January

Thank you!

Yes.

And if you didn't delete the first transfer, the re-transfer would overwrite any info you had entered.

The reason for the 'wait' comment is that the 2025 software is not ready for primetime yet; transferring too early/before it is ready can result it some (many?) pertinent items of info being incorrect or missing completely.

I transfer select client now to do year end projections, then renumber those clients so I don't lose the info I entered when I eventually transfer the file that will be used to prepare the 2025 returns.  Hopefully by April 1st?

@Just-Lisa-Now- posted on a question recently, asking if PS is still working on the organizers.... so maybe 2024 software is still being tweeked?

I once posted that the program seemed to run slower, the more clients I had in HomeBase.  Someone else posted a guffaw.  I think they were making fun of my TRS-80.

I know tax software and its related computer files are 'an annual thing' but...it would be great if the software could separate: (i) a permanent database file with factual client information from (ii) each year's annual tax return preparation software.  That way, there would be no concerns about when you rollover the client files since the database would be perpetual.  Further, aside from the annual tax return filing, you could run projections, estimates and what-ifs all year long in separate modules without potentially tarnishing the prior year's tax filing.  Annual tax return filing software should just be an overlay (module) on top of the database....as should software for projections, estimates, payment processing, basis records, etc. all tapping the same database.

I know it's a lot more than that but...AI can do it.
