Death of a child in 2020 on taxes

I have a MFJ couple who's son passed away on 4/6/2020.  I put the date of death in the 2020 software and expected the name to be taken off the 2021 tax return when transferred over.  However, it did not take the child off and it is even calculating the $3,000 child tax credit for him in 2021? Is there a special rule I'm not aware about?

No, I think Ive seen this reported before. I dont know why it doesnt remove a deceased child the following year like it does a deceased spouse.

I make it a point to run through all personal info with each client, asking if each child showing on the return is still living with them.
