My client is a US resident (originally CA) but spouse is still employed by a Canadian employer. The Canadian employer pays the spouse in CAD and issued her a T-4. How and where do you report the T4 on the US 1040 form.

You translate it to US dollars and report as wages. There should be a box to check for foreign employer Lacerte, which I use, has one). If it is subject to Canadian income tax, use Form 1116 to get  foreign tax credit.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

Ignore the T4 except to use for getting the numbers. Report the US dollar amount as wages. There is no place to input a T4, a Canadian form, in any US tax software.

The more I know, the more I don't know.
