C-Corp Texas Filing

I have completed the 1120 Federal Form and working on the Texas Franchise Form 05-163.

I am being asked for a Secretary of State File Number. The Proseries program is telling me it has to be 10 digits but my letter from the Texas Secretary of State has a 9 digit File Number. Any idea why the program's digits required are not consistent with the number given by Texas?

If you go to the Texas State Comptrollers website you can look up the Franchise Tax status of the company and get the File Number. The old system used 9 numbers and, I believe, those old numbers had a 0 added to the start.

No idea, but I would just put an extra zero at the beginning of the number to make the software happy.
