This is from the Intuit article about the July 15th extension date:
"What if my client needs more time past the July 15 deadline to pay? If your client needs additional time beyond July 15 to file, you will need to file an extension. An extension will still give you until October 15, 2020, to file, but your client will need to pay any taxes owed by July 15 or be subject to penalties and interest."
So does that mean I need to file an extension by April 15th if I want that extension to be e-filed and accepted to be extended to October 15? Or will ProSeries come out with an option to e-file the extension in July?
Trying to avoid mailing out hundreds of extensions in July if I was supposed to do that next week! Thanks

A12. If you are an individual, you can request an automatic extension to file your Federal income tax return if you can’t file by the July 15 deadline. The easiest and fastest way to request a filing extension is to electronically file Form 4868 through your tax professional, tax software, or using the Free File link on IRS.gov. Businesses, including trusts, must file Form 7004.
You must request the automatic extension by July 15, 2020. If you properly estimate your 2019 tax liability using the information available to you and file an extension form by July 15, 2020, your tax return will be due on October 15, 2020. To avoid interest and penalties when filing your tax return after July 15, 2020, pay the tax you estimate as due with your extension request.
July.
Unless your state hasn't adopted the July 15th due date. Then you would want to do it now.
@IntuitAustin can you verify....we will still be able to Efile extensions after April 15th, right?
or if we want to extend until October, does the extension need to go in by April 15th?
