Just to confirm, the parents are not ABLE to claim the child as a dependent, right?

Was Advance credit paid (column C of the 1095-A)?

Have the parents filed yet?  Are you preparing both returns?

Are the parents and child agreeable to do things for the best overall result?

Its been my experience that most families where the parents pay the premium the nondependent son/daughter is allocated zero, although as Bill pointed out it can be allocated for the best (less tax overall for family) tax outcome
